s a teenager, my favourite song was “Har pal jeevan ka ek chunavthi hai”. It means, “At every moment in your life, you have a choice.”

When I was young, I made many careless choices. I realized only later that they affected my future.

I enjoyed cricket, movies, music, and was energized by the attention of friends. I had a happy childhood and loving parents. Yet there were times that I would feel lost and lonely.

At church, I had heard people talk about how the joy we get from things around us is temporary. And that only God could give us peace, joy and purpose that’s permanent. I felt confused and conflicted about this.

I had hoped that becoming a successful sportsman, musician or entertainer would make me happy. They did. But they couldn’t keep me happy. I longed for an identity that didn’t depend on my performance.

I was once invited to a Bible study for young men in Hyderabad. The speaker talked about the burden of life without God, and how Jesus came to give us life in its fullness.

I realized then that I needed a fresh start and a lasting relationship. So, I invited Jesus into my life's journey. And since then, I have been joyfully following Him.

That one choice (Ek Chunavthi) turned my entire life around.

I want to follow Jesus
