y horoscope said that I would not live beyond 25 years. But I am 58 now and I know that knowing Jesus has made a difference. I believe that He alone has the power to rewrite my destiny.
I first heard about Him as an 8-year-old, when my school Principal narrated the story of Jesus. After the class, she moved on but I sat there deeply moved. I pondered over why Jesus had to die such a gruesome death in spite of doing nothing but good.
I would know a few years later that His death was unique and purposeful. He was the Son of God and sinless. He chose to give His life as a sacrifice for the atonement of the world’s sin. A world that included me.
He rose to life on the third day just as He said He would. His death actually meant a victory over death. As the author of life, He had the power to rise again after death. Believing in Him transformed my life.
The understanding of it all came to me through my Mom. My father’s business had incurred loss and he died young of a heart attack, leaving her to liquidate the business.  The future looked bleak and she was overwhelmed by deep grief and despair. She even thought of ending her life, taking her very young children with her away from this world.
She came to know Jesus a year later. Â She experienced His love and found the peace and hope that she was looking for. Her personal faith in Jesus gave her the desire and will to live.
As I look back, all that our Heavenly Father has done in our lives makes me so, so thankful. As a family we have been through life’s challenges, twists and turns, ups and downs. The most painful experience was losing my dearest husband and friend, Rampert Ratnaiya to Covid on May 7th, 2021. My three children and I stand strong because of the hope and strength God gives us. He comforts and encourages me through the Bible.
I feel privileged to talk about my God and what He means to me. He began a change process in me that continues to this day.
As a friend said, life is hard, but God is good. If I did not know God personally, facing each day and thinking about our tomorrows in the light of our circumstances would have caused stress and anxiety. Â I am reassured and confident that He holds my life and times in His Hand.
Thank God, He knows me and He hears me when I call upon Him in prayer! And He does the same to anyone who comes to Him in faith and trust.
